The misleading photos and wrong advertisement of the family suite.
The blame the receptionist put on me and booking.com for having booked the wrong room (which I did not)
The family suite was advertised as accommodating 6 people; the beds in the pictures were double beds: in reality, they were single beds so we could not fit our family after a sleep-deprived night and long travels. The bathroom was tiny. The staff blamed me for having booked the room via booking.com and claimed there were no bigger rooms available.

Positives:
it was clean and the building on the outside is very beautiful.
Negatives:
"breakfast" is a $10USD voucher pp to the patisserie next door which a) won't get you much and b) doesn't really offer breakfast food other than croissants. It should not be advertised as breakfast - very misleading.
The rooms are very spartan like - floorboards, venetians and roller blinds. Not much at all in the way of soft furnishings. Our bathroom was miniscule - could barely fit one person in it.

Positives:
The hotel's location is very convenient. Near Central Park, accessible to the subway and markets (bakery and fruit stands). The staff is accommodating, and friendly. Behind the front desk are Benedict, Maria, and James are very accommodating and hospitable.
Negatives:
Though the rooms have been modernized; the hallways are narrow, and the elevators are small. I didn't like them but they are expected as this hotel has been established for a long time.

We were sad to leave....
Positives:
The bedding was very comfortable. The facility food credit "perk" is a plus! I was solo in a deluxe king and had 20 dollar credit to use per day. I enjoyed French pastry and delicious coffee each AM and afternoon.
Negatives:
I was at the hotel with another family member who had a different room. There was quite a difference in room size despite both being deluxe king. And, didn't know about residents in the hotel. One close by smoked.
