I've booked a room with a view of the Empire State building, it was beautiful. Next door there is Whole foods market. Close to the Highline park.
Negatives:
The room was too small for two people, right in front of our door were elevators and right next to our room there was a noisy room of electricity, it made noises all night long. When we checked in the linen had red spots and we asked the housekeeper to change it. As a person coming from Italy, the breakfast was not tasty at all...
The street leading to the hotel had several homeless people sleeping there every day, which was not pleasant to see near 4* chain hotel.

Positives:
The location is the highlight of this property. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff we encountered were friendly. I booked at a good rate for NYC but you will need to weigh the pros and cons on if it's worth the savings.
Negatives:
We had a terrible experience with the AC. We dealt with crazy noise for two days. At one point it wasn't cooling but they did come and fix the cooling. After two days of noise and finicky AC the manager was able to move us. The bathroom is very small with not much room to move. There is very little storage or counter space for anything. As others have commented, the elevators are not great. There were maintenance people there constantly watching/working on them. We watched from the lobby as someone was stuck inside because the doors didn't open properly.

Upon arrival I was informed my room is not available and was assigned much worse room as an "upgrade". I needed a room with 1 large bed + working space. Got a room with 2 small beds and no working space - had to use ironing board as a table. The hotel made it entirely my problem that the room I booked weeks in advance and paid for was not available. As it was impossible for me to stay in that room they've agreed I change the room next day to the one I originally paid for. I was offered no compensation apart from the fact the new room was not really cleaned and had someone's joints laying on the floor.
