We should have been informed the rooftop would be closed for the maintenance. It’s the only reason we booked here from a friend’s reference. Either an email in advance or money taken off the original booking price since not all amenities were offered and the rooftop is a huge one!

Extremely expensive for the room we had with a bunk bed for my daughter and I. We could not open our suitcases fully because there was no space in the room. The only place to open them 2/3 was between the wall and the bathroom door. We are not coming back for sure.

False advertisement!! We booked it for the ‘rooftop’… it’s been closed FOR A YEAR and staff even told us to notify EVERYONE because it let a lot of guest down with us visiting for September 11 memorial.. website guaranteed ROOFTOP…. And tv glitched off cable net work… room is kept at FREEZING temp. You can’t adjust it… yet, located in Times Square… also, your hotel key only allows you access to the floor your room is on.. so my (adult) kids were on 16- I was on 11. We had to meet in lobby- can’t just go to their floor?? And NO ICE BUCKET OR FRIDGE…

Without a doubt the worst bed and bedding I have ever experienced (and I have stayed at budget chains as well as luxury hotels). The bedframe was a piece of plywood with a crap cheap mattress. The pillows were foam chunk.
$300+ a night you should get the bed right. Nobody should ever stay here.
The location is terrible. I hate Times Square, but had to be here for a conference. Somehow the Pod is actually worse than a Times Square hotel, as it is two blocks further east, so it doesn't even have decent transport. God this place is bad.

Positives:
Checkin went smooth, friendly staff & specifically the concierge, clean room, quiet room (although right next to the busy street), clean towels and made bed everyday by cleaning service. We had a nice view on the streets and empire state building. The hotel was very close to the Times Square and many places of interest were in walking distance (Rockerfeller center, Central park, 5th Avenue etc...). We really enjoyed our stay and was perfect for a few days with my travel buddy. We think it was worth the price.
Negatives:
Two mornings we got 'brown'/rusty water from the tap/shower. It appears it's a NYC thing. After leaving it ran for a few minutes the problem solved itself.
We had a bunk bed. The ladder was a bit 'loose'.
