Paid for park view - could see about 3 trees in the distance - this is not what is shown on the website
The first night we arrived our room was not ready so the lady at the check in provided us with the same type but just an alternative room - clearly had forgotten to mention it and we had one member of staff just walk in not realising we were there. Further to this we went to bed at around 7pm as we were exhausted from travelling - it was just myself and my 14 year old daughter when around 8pm I hear the door to our room opening - obviously I jumped up and it was none other than housekeeping at 8pm?!
Finally as we were due to leave I was advised my card was being declined and did I have another - I gave another believing I was only paying for the room service I had thinking my bank had blocked the transaction only to realise the machine had the full cost of the hotel on which I had already paid up front! I was then asked to produce proof of my payment to which the staff member took my phone and proceeded to forward the email to her manager?
We stayed at the Plaza back in March and I think I would rather return there next time

Positives:
Good location. Close to everything. Clean. Decent views.
Negatives:
Outlets weren’t international, so you need to buy an adapter. Some surcharges “destination fee” post booking. Not exactly a good fit for anyone on a budget.

1. staff was terrible, check extremely slow, it took 2 receptionists to work on 1 party's problem, while a line formed just waiting on the inefficiecies of the staff. 2. no one opened door for me upon arrival, i was lugging 2 suitcases, a single female traveller, and your doorman just stood there blindly. 3. i asked for fridge first night, was told you were out. then housekeeping knocked on my door 2nd night, I asked for fridge again, no one returned to even give me response. This was the most terrible service i've encountered at a so called 5 star hotel.

Positives:
Comfortable beds and plenty of space. Good bathroom but some water stains on the ceiling.
Room clean and well cleaned.
Negatives:
Breakfast was a disaster. It took 20 minutes to get a table as empty tables were not cleared. I saw one table left with used plates, cups etc for at least 30 minutes. It took ages to place our order and then more time for toast to arrive. I saw other tables having similar experiences- having to ask more than once for coffee. The manager seemed to do most of the work.

Nothing. They dumped me out whilst I was en route from London. They booked me in a substandard sister hotel where the hairdryer didn’t work, the security lock on door didn’t work, it was obviously an accessible room, they refused to give me breakfast until I argued and then the breakfast was terrible.
They tried to dump me out of here after one night until I threw a wobbly. I only discovered because I noticed my room was not made up at 3.30pm and they said that is because you are checking out…

Positives:
The location was close to Times Square and right next door to a very good eating place as well as across the street. The food at the hotel was good too. Great service and the buffet was awesome!
Negatives:
The only issue I had was the room was not clean, paper wrappers in the corners, hair on the shower floor and the bidet attachment (very disgusting). The small fridge had an open empty bottle of Vodka. We asked to move to a different room which they allowed us to move but they didn't volunteer to help us with that and we were there for 4 days so we had a lot move.

The View. The room until became aware table lamps electric dangerous. Shower Screws fell out and door on us. Water leaked over floor, damp and smelled for three nights of four. No Kitchenette contrary to advert first said told only apartments have and another said don't have any at all blaming it on booking.com

Offered us a microwave for there being no kitchenette! Forcing the issue to buy breakfast at €100 per sitting. My travel companion previously worked for QE2, Cunard and 5 red star hotel in London warning to others is this was a past Conrad Hotel that fell under Mariott now with staff ignorant of how to deal with the cause for complaint at the time. We checked out and went to Virgin Hotel for the remainder of the stay in NYC and my gosh the 4 star far outweighs the 5 star Mariott that only has 43 reviews.. ppl are just not bothering to rate or if are is being vetted / blocked by the hotel.
