The room and bathroom are very spacious for New York standards. Subway and other train stations are close by and easily accessible. The neighbourhood and surroundings feel fairly safe. I appreciate the included breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Dirty floors, walls scuffed up, light in bathroom not working, broken corner of mirror in bathroom could have scratched someone, shower did not adjust to hand held option, uncomfortable mattress, malfunctioning thermostat. I liked the robe and slippers, but the rundown condition of everything else was disappointing.

Good firm bed. Pillows were too soft, but bed was so comfortable that it overcame the pillows. Location is perfectly convenient to the #1 train. The Flower District is a wonderful neighborhood. Room was quite large for a NYC room at the price, quite surprising. Shower was hot & powerful, but the structure of the shower cabinet is terrible. It's difficult to shower without wetting the floor despite a towel down. Lots of unexpected supplies in the bathroom: dental kit,
shaving kit, etc. Excellent breakfast: many choices and delicious. Lighting in breakfast room is terrible. It looks like disco lighting. People want to see what they are eating and who they are eating with. Staff was helpful, friendly, and informative. We have stayed on W. 28th St before, and will definitely return to this hotel. Cleaning staff was excellent.

See above: pillows, shower structure, breakfast room lighting. The room was surprisingly nice, and I was surprised because the lobby is a little shabby. So the room was a real pleasure because it was not run down at all.

Staff tried to add almost $500 in facility fees that were NOT disclosed at check in or booking. Management insisted this was correct and only corrected the mistake after we got booking involved. They were rude and said it was our fault, even though we confirmed our total cost multiple times with the hotel before our visit and at check in. They did not show any interest in correcting their mistake until we got booking involved. I would understand if this was a one off mistake, however they have attempted this with multiple customers based on their previous reviews and have clearly made no effort to correct this issue.

The hotel was in a good location. The breakfast bartender was nice and smiley.
Negatives:
Really disappointed with this booking. Normally, everything goes smooth, but this time was different. Had issues like a bloodstained blanket and missing housekeeping (had only 2 out of 5 room cleaning), hotel facilities were super cheap (small gym, "meeting room" is basically an old PC), air conditioner was not working at all. Didn't even mention the fact that it was rediculously expensive. I thought the booking site would help sort this out, but they just told me to deal with the hotel directly.

Positives:
The room was mostly clean. There was a bathrobe and slippers provided. A small continental breakfast was provided with a dining room. There was a small gym area that provided enough equipment to get a workout in. We had a refrigerator and safe in the room, which was really nice. The staff was attentive and responded quickly to any issues we had. They were very nice and accommodating. I will definitely stay there again! Hopefully, when the rooftop bar has reopened.

When we first checked in, it was sweltering in the room. When we let the front know, they quickly fixed the thermostat. The bathroom smelled of urine when we checked in, but once we had housekeeping reclean the bathroom, it was fine. The bed was VERY FIRM. When we woke up in the morning, we felt sore with stiff backs and hips. There is a rooftop area, but it was closed for renovations. The hotel had one ice machine at the lower level. One thing that was a little weird is that the shower does not have a closing door or curtain, so water splashed onto the floor, and we had to use towels to get the water up.
