The Comfort Suites At WestGate Mall recently underwent a complete hotel renovation in 2022, including all rooms and public areas. The hotel is five miles from the University of South Carolina Upstate. Visitors will enjoy being close to a number of local attractions like the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium and the Spartanburg Expo Center multipurpose venue. Guest rooms in this all-suite hotel are equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, flat-screen televisions, sofa sleepers, voice mail, curved shower rods, hair dryers, work desks and cable television. Keep your electronic devices charged with the recharge device including AC and USB outlets provided in all guest rooms. Connecting rooms can be requested. We discovered @10:30 pm the first night that our sofa sleeper was soiled! Smelled like urine & visibly stained. When I called the front desk they told me there was NOTHING they could do about it at the time. He said he put in a work order for a new mattress. He even called back to make sure they could come in the morning if we weren’t there.
We returned to the room after a long day on the ball field to discover that our room had not been touched.
I went down to the desk & the lady said that cleaning service was already gone for the day. I explained that my guest had to pile in the bed with us because of the soiled sofa mattress & that we needed to change rooms.
They initially said they didn’t have any more rooms available. When I explained how this was not acceptable, they suddenly did have another room. We had to pack up our room and move upstairs to another room. I asked if any discount could be applied due to our terrible sleeping arrangements & having to move rooms in the middle of our stay. Of course the answer was no.
I was given the manager’s card (informed that she wouldn’t be available to speak to until Tuesday. (Our check out was Sunday)… again, no discounts since we used Booking.com or even concern that our stay was unpleasant.
I plan to call the manager, Mildred Lipscomb-Roland, today. Hopefully she can at least give me some sort of a discount for our unpleasant, cramped sleeping arrangement the first night and having to change rooms in the middle of our stay. At this point, I will not stay here again.

They closed the pool the day after we got there only because there were alot of kids there and the staff didn't like them all being in the pool. Then was charged a fee for leaving early if anything I should have been refunded for the night I didn't use because they could book that room to someone else!

We reserved this hotel due to traveling with a pet; however, when we arrived, there were no pet rooms available. The manager was able to give us a room. My daughter's room was dirty, had an artificial fingernail between the bedsheets, poop on the bathroom wastebasket and flung onto the wall, vomit on the wall near the king bed that dripped down into a large stain on the carpet, her daughters slept on the pullout couch which had stains on both sides of the mattress, the entire mattress and frame was wobbly so her daughters slept at an angle all night, the springs were hurting her older daughter. We will contact the manager Monday to ask for a significant discount for her room.
