I am a loyal IHG member and have never experienced anything like this. The photos online do not reflect the reality of the 3rd and 4th floors. We recently stayed at the Staybridge Suites North in Austin and had a fantastic, relaxing experience. Based on that, we decided to book another night, thinking it would be similar. Unfortunately, I accidentally booked this location instead, but since it was only a 20-minute drive away, I didn't think it would be an issue.
Upon arrival, I was told our room wasn't ready. After checking in three other guests, they finally checked us in. We were given a room on the fourth floor, and I hoped it would be like the king one-bedroom suite I paid for. To our disbelief, the room was horrible. It smelled like a muggy locker room, was extremely hot and humid despite the cooler being set to 55°F, and the bathroom door was missing. Additionally, the bedroom door lock was broken.
I paid $160.00 plus a $200.00 deposit for this room, which is outrageous considering the poor condition. For comparison, the North Austin location charged the same rate but only required a $50.00 deposit and was worth every penny.
I don't usually leave reviews like this, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I also believe that my ethnicity and appearance may have influenced the way I was treated at this location

That they had availability and had a very reasonable price. I did downgrade the room only because it was so dark and there were lights out in the room but it was clean, which is so important!
Negatives:
Very dark and they didn't do the happy hour, which we would have liked and they kept all the lights off. So it was very dark in the sitting area we guess to discourage guests from sitting near the fireplace or Christmas tree.
