The Westin Arlington

Negatives: There was a loud knock in the sinks drain every night that woke us up. Room 614

Negatives: Our room was quite dusty. Even after daily cleaning, a layer of dust remained on the table and other visible areas.

Negatives: Rooms did not look like pictures room seemed very outdated: old

Negatives: Do not stay at the Westin in Arlington, VA, unless you want to be charged $250/night for “smoking” if their smoke detector machine, through an algorithm, decides you have smoked in the room. They charged us $500 for 2 of the 7 nights we were there. To be clear, we do not smoke and we did not smoke at the Westin. When we disputed the charge, they said no one was on site to speak with us and someone would call us; no one did and we had to insist after several phone calls to speak with someone who said the machine decision is final and no human being at Westin or Marriott will change it, When we complained on Marriott’s site, they referred the complaint to the same person who had responded before who repeated that the machine reading is final. Westin says you can dispute the credit card charge but we wrote a long and specific complaint and our credit card company reinstated the charge as soon as Westin sent them a machine printout (no human explanation). On other sites there are complaints from other people who have had the same issue with Westin (who also do not smoke and, like us, used a hair dryer—and other possible issues for the “infallible” smoke detector machine) and who also have been unable to delete the charge because Westin refuses any discussion and insists the machine rules. At Westin/Marriott, no human being cares about the truth and the machine rules. Beware.
