Extended Stay America Suites - Washington D.C. - Springfield

Negatives: Super dirty and dusty room. Some towels had stains on them. There was so much dust inside the hairdryer that it broke down. Pillows and blankets stink. The elevator smelled like urine, the hallway reeked of pickles. It was impossible to use the kitchen: I literally bagged people on reception to give me plates, mugs and pan… but there is no dishwashing liquid in the suit, no basics like oil, salt, tee. Breakfast was a huge disappointment: filter coffee, muffin and cereal bar. I traveled with a pet. I mentioned it as a special request but was ignored. Had to pay 169$ extra upon arrival. Would be great to know the exact amount in advance (on Booking and on their website is included that “charges may apply”) Honestly, I don’t understand why people stay there.

Negatives: Could not pay with CASH! Even though it was a suite with a kitchen, there was no dishes, silverware, coffee maker etc in the room. Upon checking in, the elevator was out of service, yet they gave a room on the 5th floor and told me to use the stairs! I did ask for another room. Elevator was out of service for at least a full day. Staff never said a word to me (hello, goodbye, nice day) after check in

Negatives: Trash can in lobby adjacent men's bathroom was full

Negatives: A lot of people that are down on their luck or drug users just hanging out all day and night in front of the hotel. A lady literally sat for hours on the curb at the door smoking a cigarette and appeared to be under the influence of something else. The entire hotel smelled terrible! Idk if it’s from people cooking things they shouldn’t but the smell permeated the halls the carpets and inside the hotel room. The refrigerator made a running noise and ice machine kept knocking all night so though the bed was comfortable I couldn’t get a good night’s rest. I won’t stay at another extended stay going forward, they have gone down hill across the board.

Negatives: Smell is terrible. Trying to charge me for the stay when I already paid on Booking

Negatives: Stated breakfast and it was only coffee that was bad and a wrapped muffin that was dry

Negatives: The room was obviously dated but relatively clean, even though there was hair left in the shower and the kitchen utensils we received from the front desk were not clean. The lack of kitchen supplies was also a problem, we had to go down to the front desk several times to ask for cups and forks, and they didn’t even had cups available. The lady at the front desk seemed annoyed that we were even asking for kitchen supplies. Our room also did not have a coffee maker or an ice tray and we were told that the hotel had no ice machine at all. The bed was very uncomfortable, my side of the bed had a big dip in it from the springs sagging. The water in the shower never got warm, my boyfriend and I both had to take cold showers which was very unpleasant. Also, it was very noisy around our room and the building. There was a couple screaming at each other in the parking lot to the point that a cop was later asking people if they had witnessed anything. The people in the room next to us were stomping and banging around.

Negatives: Everything else. The room stunk, no coffee in the room and tiny cups in lobby. Breakfast was 1-a pack of oatmeal,2- chocolate muffin, 3- bran bars

Negatives: This place is not safe. When I arrived, a young woman called the cops on her boyfriend who was abusing her. There are a lot of people living in this hotel. The hallway smelled like cat pee and marijuana.
