Art in the desert
Positives:
The room was a piece of art. Very comfortable beds and warm light fluffy blankets. Breakfast was included - it was simple, but good and sustained. Free local beer/wine as a bonus! I'd like to stay longer there - it's a perfect spot for travellers, artists and writers...
Easy check in and check out also.
Negatives:

I think the amount of plugs in the room could be increased.

Positives:
The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable.
Negatives:
The free breakfast was exceedingly disappointing. All they offered was oatmeal which we do not eat. For those that did not oatmeal there was low quality bread and pop tarts. Knifes to butter bread had to be shared which is rather unhealthy.
The location offered no amenities close by which was disappointing since the hotel did not have any restaurant.
We felt that we paid far too much money for what was offered.

For being dog friendly, it was very limited on where we could go. We wanted to go swimming and use the outdoor game area but our dogs were not allowed.

This hotel always exceeds my expectations! The very nicest staff, a salt-water swimming pool, great little bar featuring locally sourced beer and wine. A wonderful oatmeal breakfast bar (including PopTarts!). Lovely cozy rooms with locally sourced art (that you can buy!) It really feels more like a community than a hotel. One of my favorite places to stay in the US. Incredibly reasonably priced for such a nice place.

Hotel McCoy is one of those hip renovated roadside motels that has been revitalized with funky art, decor, and attitude. Eevery room features art by a local artist, for sale. The place is similar to The Modern in Boise or The Oxbow in Eau Claire: a flip of an old, rundown motel that emphasizes quirky decor and the allure of the open road. Check in was fast and front desk staff were friendly and welcoming.
Negatives:
A room advertised as having a kitchenette should have a coffee pot in it. The coffee available in the lobby was good, but weak. The wall HVAC unit is very, very loud. The room was clean enough but had a funky odor. The bed was a bit too firm. Soundproofing from highway and guest noise is not the greatest. Light blocking didn't really work all that well. It feels overpriced.
