Positives:
It's not far from the beach. You can walk there.
Negatives:
There's a bad smell in the room, I don't know where it's coming from. Lots of hair and dust on the bed. The washbasin is too shallow, and water always splatters everywhere when you use it. The bathroom plumbing is not good, it is impossible to take a good bath, can only be flushed out of the water.

The hotel was filthy. The television or refrigerator didn't work. They moved us to another room that was even worse. It smelled like fish. The owner put a car air freshener in the room to cover up the smell. We didn't stay for longer than 30 minutes.

Nothing. Nada. I walked in with my 22 lb service dog, a jack russell that I had put into my booking. I was harassed by the girl at front desk immediately. She told me I had to have a service dog ID. That is a lie. Then she wanted to know my disabilities, and I told her she was not allowed to ask for the name of the disability but could ask me what the dog helps me with concerning my
disabilities. She threatened me with bringing in a black light after I leave to check for urine and if they decide there is urine or more I lose my $100.09 deposit. My dog is trained and never goes to bathroom indoors. He even lays on a clean blanket that I bring because I don't trust the cleanliness of their bedding. She finally brought out a form for me to fill out for the service dog which I filled out as I have done at other hotels. When I got my bill she had deducted $35.00 as though my dog is a pet. I called and they said it was in the process of being refunded but it never was. I am sending them a letter to refund and if they don't I will sue them under the ADA, Americans with Disabilties Act. I am notifying the better business bureau too. Lousy experience I did not feel well after the encounter. Stressed me out with her threats and I was only staying there because of my finances. See above. The Services was crap. The room was crap. The staff was crap and they intentionally violated the ADA for my service dog and charged me a pet fee even after I booked my service dog with me. Identified him as a service dog and filled out the service dog form. Desk clerk threatened me with telling me they were going to bring in a black light to check for urine after I leave. I figured then they were going to mess with me and they did by taking part if of my deposit.

This felt more like a hostel/pay by the hour establishment. Very un-kept and unclean room. My room was NOTHING like the pictures online. I walked in, looked around and checked out. No way was I even going to sit on that bed. Horribly dissatisfied.

motel needs lots of help, mold in bath, paint peeling in bath, towels not clean, very worn, practically rags, good thing I had a clean the towel in car,I really want a refund!! was told their supposed upgrade would cost $100 more, outside paint peeling, lot not clean. As I said I want a refund , cigarette burn in blanket not to mention was threadbare

The staff. I booked 8-23 for 9/16. I called to make sure they had kitchen for my 87 yr old diabetic dad. Staff states yes. Also pics show single level.
When I arrive, they told me they did not have a kitchen but they could give me one $135 more($244+135= $379 for two nites!
Also, they wanted to put my 87-year-old dad up on a second story which I didn’t even know they had a second floor. They are charging me the full amount because I canceled and left right then and there and had to rebook another hotel that had a kitchen For $300! They would not refund and I couldn’t stay due to the needs for my dad. This room was for him.

Location is great, easy walk to Carlsbad Village and beaches.
Negatives:
The rooms need a major updating. The pictures are deceiving. The beds are very uncomfortable. I was going for budget for this particular stay so I wasn’t expecting much, but some new mattresses and a freshen up would benefit this property. My TV only turned on, but the remote (which they hold in their office for fear of theft I can only imagine?) wouldn’t work. I wasn’t there other than a nights rest so no big deal.
