Positives:
Good location for visiting Old Town… We were there for a wedding which was held in the rooftop terrace.
Negatives:
Check in was very straightforward—no welcome words—no offer of assistance for the wedding event that we were attending.
No view of the city from the rooftop terrace was disappointing.
Our bathroom was not very clean (hair from previous occupants was on the floor) and the bathtub would not drain properly—standing water after shower was gross. Rust stains on glass shades in bathroom were unsightly and wouldn’t take much to clean with a Mr clean sponge. The bedside table was smudgy and SO MUCH DUST behind when I attempted to plug in my charger! Disgusting for over $600 per night.
My gown was FILTHY along the hem from walking around the terrace. Absolutely ruined a very expensive gown.

Very good
Positives:
The Monaco Kimpton is in Old Town, located right opposite Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell Museum and just along from the metro and bus stops. A walk up Chestnut Street will lead you right into the heart of Philly. It's a lovely city with great architecture spanning the centuries and is easy to get around. The Art Museum is a World's Best, it really is. Buses and Metro are contactless. The staff at the Monaco are a delight; friendly, obliging and extremely helpful. Free wine at 5.00pm in the lovely guest lounge. Our room decor was a little crazy (we woke to a bloody great peacock on the wallpaper) but that's OK, it was well appointed with good toiletries, plenty of hanging space, excellent bed, a very large bathroom, fridge, safe etc. Breakfasts are excellent but if you book "breakfast included" see my comment below... There are some nice restaurants and bars in Old Town, and don't be put off if they seem a bit shabby on the outside, it's an old district that's safe to walk around. An excellent stay in a smashing hotel. Thanks to everyone.
Negatives:
We booked Breakfast Included with Booking dot com. Reception give you vouchers for your stay that entitle you to $25 each. Sounds good, but we weren't made aware of the limit on check-in and were charged extra for some items, as by the time they've added tax, tips (20%, we're just not used to that in the UK!) and whatever, you can easily go over $25. The following day we went easy, and the waitress said everything was covered in the $50. (including tax and her tip - odd...) The next day - $17 extra. Next day, nothing. The final day, as an experiment, I added a bowl of fruit for $8. This sent us over the limit, and invited tax, tips, etc etc - So we ended up paying $30 extra, for the inclusion of a bowl of $8 fruit. I just don't get it. If you've got a headache reading this, so have I. It's not a complaint and I'm not against tax, tips etc, we just found it very difficult to budget. Oh, and coffee top ups are free, thank goodness. Booking dot com should make it clear on booking about the voucher system, and that $25 has to cover tax and tips. Good luck to you all and take a calculator.

Positives:
I liked the closeness to all the attractions.
Negatives:
When we checked in, the staff was rude and acted as if they didn't want to help us.
The room was nice but the carpet was dirty.
