Positives: Location is great. Only 2 minute walk to the San Diego trolley (light rail) and 5 minutes to the area by the cruise ships and the Midway museum. 5 minutes from Little Italy with lots of restaurants. The staff is very nice.
Negatives: Automatic front door was off most of the trip - both in and out had to pass through the single side door. The room was infested with ants. Staff quickly moved us but the second room had some ants. Another room occupied by a family member also had ants. Breakfast was substandard compared to other Hampton inns. No hot food. Only boiled eggs, string cheese and some microwave sandwiches. Serving area was very busy and poorly laid out - always squeezing past people. Only one microwave - was always a wait. One elevator was broken and the other two elevators were always busy. Middle elevator door was very slow opening and closing and both working elevators had strange jerking motion when stopped when people entered or exited.
